About the Program
Advanced Residency Program Project Development (2010 - 2011) in Escuelab is possible thanks
to an agreement between ATA (Alta Tecnología Andina), the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and
Development, and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation Development (AECI).

Date of response to the application: August 30, 2010.
The program begins on October 4, 2010.
What is it?
In the historical center of Lima, capital of Peru, Escuelab offers a program geared to young
artists, creators and activists from Latin America, with emphasis in the Andean region, Central
America and the Caribbean. The program annually hosts up to ten participants, who access the
status of interns and may reside in Escuelab - Lima Centre for a period of 11 months in order to
receive an interdisciplinary training characteristics and the possibility of developing your own
project.
Why?
The modern world has been realized the need for linkages between art, technology and
society. While academic methods are still traditional in their use of labels for fear of losing the
disciplines character, Escuelab think there is no culture without change and no change without
experiment and innovation. That is why we propose a transdisciplinary methodology update,
outside the usual classifications and conventional divisions.
How?
Courses in the residency program include theoretical and technical fields, all relevant approach
to art, technology and society. We also give special value to learning through seminars,
workshops, immersion and exchange, discussion forums on the web, and in general, horizontal
and dynamic learning community.
We also encourage a practical and comprehensive approach focused on the incubation of
projects: this is the mark of an advanced training in the current context of Latin America.
Who can apply?
The Escuelab residency program is designed for artists / designers / activists natives and
residents of any countries in the Andean region (Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru),
Central America (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador , Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama)
and the Caribbean (Barbados, Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and
Trinidad and Tobago). Eligible persons seeking to expand their knowledge and experiences
regarding the relationship between art, technology and society. Applicants must have a
minimum of 24 years and can come from any professional field (visual arts, architecture /
urbanism, film, engineering, communications, social sciences and pure and applied sciences)
with or without a degree.

What has a residence in Escuelab?
• A round-trip ticket from your country / city of origin.
• Commitment to funding 50% of a similar passage during your period of residence.
• Basic pension monthly.
• Shared rooms.
• Common areas for apartment (lounge, desk, kitchen, dining area, laundry room, two
terraces).
• Access to all areas of Escuelab:
• The common workspace of 300 m2 divided into six areas:
• Meeting Room.
• Chamber of documentation and video editing.
• Screening Room.
• computer room.
• Workshops 1 and 2 manual.
• Store electronic equipment, tools and others.
• Computer equipment, audio and video.
• Infrastructure for wired and wireless Internet.
• Conveniently situated 100 meters from the Plaza San Martín in Lima's historic center. Ideal
proximity to markets and shopping areas specialized in electronics, computers, recycling and
materials of all kinds.
How long is a residence?
The residences have a duration of 11 months with the possibility of extending an additional 6
months. Once agreed the expansion, financing allows you to continue working in Lima or in
your country / city of origin.
Commitments of fellows:
* An online publication in which the fellow broadcast their experience and results of their
work.
* All rights to work in nursing incubated Escuelab, are the authors, but should
include "Thanks to the sponsorship of ATA / Escuelab and PCF" in addition to clearly include
logiotipos of these institutions.
* A commitment by the grantee to contribute to the development of dissemination and
exchange networks in the region. Fellows are expected after his stay in Escuelab, promoted in
his home country a stronger link between it and the Escuelab to disseminate future calls, and
establish agreements between Escuelab and institutions in their hometowns.
